                             4  cups of flour
                                      2  cups of water
                                      2  cups of salt
2  tablespoons of cream of tartar
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Use your hands when
it gets hard to stir.  Knead until it becomes smooth. Too sticky ,
add more flour. Too crumbly add more water.
Add food colouring when the dough is the right texture.

I found this recipe easy .I always like to see if the kids can do the recipes themselves.  May managed to make the dough herself.   [just need a little help mixing by hand] .

We dried out the salt dough under a radiator and then May painted the shapes Pink [of course]

2 tablespoons of cream of tarter

Add all ingredients together in a large bowl and mix. Too sticky more flour, too crumbly more water.
May found this recipe easy but thought it needed something so we added pink glitter.  Another trick for younger children  is a few drops of lavender oil .  [makes the playdough smell great]

                                      Bubble Formula
You will need
50ml Washing up Liquid
500ml Warm water
2 tbsp Sugar

Mix all the ingredients together gently in a shallow tub.  Leave it to settle over night.  Pour the mixture into a plastic bottle to keep safe.
[ longer you leave the mixture out in the shallow tub the better, add more sugar if needed]

Cupcakes

125g [4oz] margarine
125g [4oz] self raising flour

Turn on oven to 180 celsius. Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix them together until smooth and slightly lighter in colour. Put paper cases in tray and half fill each case with cake mixture. Cook for 15 to 20 m. Check they are done, are they golden in colour and do they spring back when pressed.

Cookies

Ingredients,
300g/10oz Plain Flour
150g/5oz Castor Sugar
250g/8oz Butter
2tsp vanilla essence
1/2 large egg yolk

Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl.  Add the egg yolk and vanilla essence, beat the mixture until it is smooth.  Next add the flour, salt and mix everthing together to form a smooth dough.  [add a little extra flour if needed]  Mould the dough into a ball, wrap in clingfilm and leave it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Turn the oven on to180 celsius.  Roll the dough 1/2 cm thick on a floured surface. Cut out the cookies. Put them on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Cook the cookies for 12 minutes or until golden

As my kids know only to well I am a bad cook ! This recipe is one of the few I can do myself and the kids can eat the results.  I make the dough and the kids cut out the cookies !
