Children's Science Experiments

Mini Greenhouse
You need,
Clear plastic bottle
Soil
ScissorsSmall Seedling or seeds
Celotape

Cut the bottle in half. Half fill the bottom half with soil, plant the seedling or seeds. Put the top half on top and tape back together, make sure there is no leaks. Next put a few drops of water in the bottle and put the cap back on.
Now the easy bit, put the mini greenhouse near a window, where it will get plenty of sun. Give it a few days and you will see the bottle sweating ,too moist open the bottle and let it dry out for a while.

May planted some Fairy mix seeds and was pleased to see the seedlings. She's looking foward to some pink flowers soon.

Magic Balloon
Blow up a balloon using gas made from yeast.
You will need,
1 packet of yeast
warm water
sugar
teaspoon
plastic bottle
balloon

Pour the dried yeast into the bottle.  Add in warm water and a teaspoon of sugar and swirl the bottle around. Put the balloon over the mouth of the bottle, we used celotape to make sure there is no leaks. Then put the bottle in a bowl of warm water and watchthe magic!!
  Now for the science bit,
By adding sugar and the warm water to the yeast, you start a chemical reaction. The yeast produces a gas called carbon dioxide it rises and fills up the balloon.  May loved this experiment we kept changing the warm water when it cooled to make it work faster.
